FROM SUPERMODEL TO FEMALE CYCLIST

Every woman encounters pivotal decisions in life. In 1990, Katia won the top honor of the world's top model competition on behalf of Belgium. Later, she decided to return to Belgium to get married and engage in politics while managing her own estate. Cycling became her most important passion to balance her career and family. Katia and Jelenew share a commitment to quality living and all things beautiful, as well as a concern for the physical and mental well-being of contemporary women. Cycling has connected us in this shared commitment.

LIFE LIVED TO THE FULLEST

To the public eye, Katia della Faille "has it all together". Born in the peaceful village of Wilrijik in the Belgian province of Antwerp, she enjoyed a pastoral childhood. She went to boarding school for education and soon after was discovered to be a model for her statuesque physique and unique features. She was offered to model for a top agency in New York but turned down the opportunity to get married to Count of Limburg Stirum. They ran a beautiful manor and BnB together and had two beautiful daughters. The titles that follow Katia include journalist, politician, model, mother, countess, BnB manager, and avid cyclist... On paper, she seems to have lived life to its fullest.

INSPIRED BY THE CYCLING SPIRIT

In an interview with Jelenew, Katia discloses that precisely because she has endeavored in so many different fields and areas, she realizes all the more that there are many pushbacks and resistance for living out one's true self, especially for a woman. "I saw and felt it when I participated in politics and I see it now as the mother of a 29-year-old and a 27-year-old daughter". She had just picked up cycling when she realized that under social conditioning and bias, women usually do not realize the power they truly possess; not only mental power, but also physical power. "We think in advance that we cannot climb that mountain, without realizing that we are totally capable of doing it." This is the important lesson she has learned from her life on a bike. For her, the cycling spirit is freedom in discipline. Through rigorous training and with courage, she can "conquer" that mountain both in real life as well as in her heart. It is this spirit of cycling that encouraged her to make difficult decisions at life's turning point.

She said she has always been riding a beautiful pink bike and she has initiated #PinkPower on her social media as a discussion of the color pink and its symbolic meaning for women. She believes that it's necessary to break the stereotypes associated with the color pink. Pink is a beautiful color that represents the diverse aspects of femininity. It should be an embodiment of resilience and bravery as well as gentleness, warmth and empathy .

We chose her beloved pink as the theme of the photoshoot to showcase the possibilities in the color pink.
