Having endured various hardships in life, this resilient French woman is now embarking on an ordinary yet extraordinary mission.

In June of this year, Marjorie Ros accomplished an incredible task for her – she launched and successfully completed a 750-kilometer cycling challenge around Southern France. Jelenew was fortunate to witness her departure. On the journey from Hyeres to Mauvezin, she often rode alone, sometimes accompanied by fellow cyclists who she met randomly or joined her through the logs she posted on social media. Among them were the elderly, disabled individuals, mothers, and various other roles... She continuously inspired others with her own experiences, demonstrating through cycling how sports can illuminate lives that might otherwise be dimmed by illness. With her actions, she proved to her many followers that if you persist in doing what is right, the world will come to help you.
"Although I am a patient, I am also someone who yearns for success, a yearning that surpasses most people." In the small town of Hyeres in Provence, this lady with eyes as pure as sea water shared with us a story of dreams, courage, and love.”

INNOCENT YET AMBITIOUS DREAMS
"I was born without any noticeable differences from other children." Around the ages of 4 to 6, she gradually began to sense something was different."It's like……a person with poor vision who, even without their glasses, strains to see and can still catch a glimpse."she describes herself.

Marjorie was born in Toulon, a port city nestled in southern France not far from her current residence in Hyeres. This picturesque locale boasts stunning beaches, numerous ships, and a steady stream of tourists. However, contrary to its scenic beauty, Marjorie Ros endured a difficult childhood. She experienced violence from family members, developed epilepsy from a young age, and faced discrimination in school. It was cycling, when she reached adulthood, that emerged as the force that reshaped her life.
How did it all begin? Sitting at the dining table in her home, Marjorie recounts her childhood in a warm and familiar tone, saying, "I was born without any noticeable differences from other children." Around the ages of 4 to 6, she gradually began to sense something was different. As she attended a regular school rather than a special one, Marjorie found that during classes and outdoor activities, she was always a little slower than the other children. To do the same things, she needed to put in much more effort and time than others. "It's like a person with poor vision who, even without their glasses, can still see a little bit," she describes herself.
Despite starting her life accompanied by a chronic illness during her childhood, Marjorie has never been discouraged by it. Her optimism and resilience are embedded in every warm smile. When talking about her hometown, she says, "For me, Toulon can be summed up in one sentence: 'Summer never stops.' The summers there are very long, and my childhood felt like it was spent entirely in summer."
Picture this scenario: in a sunlit little town, a beautiful girl whose childhood was not so fortunate and who didn't quite fit in at school. However, she possesses a demeanor remarkably similar to the place where she grew up—a vibrant vitality that never fades, just like the long summers there. She emanates an innate optimistic force. "I feel like I'm definitely going to become a star!" - young Marjorie vowed confidently, harboring an innocent yet ambitious dream.

FROM 5 KILOMETERS TO 750 KILOMETERS:
BRIDGING THE IMPOSSIBLE
Marjorie completed her first 5-kilometer bike ride alone at 18, without equipment or a coach. "When I got home, I was exhausted, but I was overjoyed," she said. I asked her if she still had the bike, and with a coat draped over her shoulders, she excitedly headed to the living room. "I'll show you!" And there we saw her very first bicycle – the vintage PEUGEOT COMPETITION 2000, hanging proudly on the wall.

Marjorie's genuine focus on daily exercise began during her years between 18 and 20, when she weighed 96 kilograms. Motivated by a desire to lose weight, she wanted to engage in physical activities, yet her health conditions imposed certain limitations on the types of exercises she could pursue. It wasn't until 2013 that Marjorie encountered specialists capable of performing brain surgery for her at the Neurophysiology Department of the Timone Manella Hospital. This surgery opened up the possibility for her to coexist with her epilepsy.

The surgery was a success, yet the challenges of life did not cease thereafter. Marjorie continued to experience frequent epileptic seizures at night, particularly during sleep. Additionally, post-surgery, she found reading increasingly difficult, prompting her to turn to image-based magazines instead. It was during this time that she serendipitously discovered the benefits of cycling in a magazine. "I remember the article was about bicycles and mentioned the positive effects of cycling on the central nervous system. It seemed like it could help my condition, so I decided to give this sport a try." Subsequently, Marjorie contacted a medical facility in Marseille to inquire whether her physical condition was suitable for cycling. Upon receiving a positive response, this life-altering sport embarked on its journey with her.
"That time, I rode to the seaside to see the ocean. When I got home, I was tired but I was delighted." From then on, her life gained a loyal companion that accompanied her through countless trials and tribulations—a rusty PEUGEOT COMPETITION 2000. "The very first day I rode her, the rear carrier was already rusty."

In June of this year, Marjorie Ros accomplished an incredible feat for her—she launched and successfully completed a 750-kilometer cycling challenge. From Hyeres to Mauvezin, along the way, she continuously used her own experiences to inspire others. More and more people were moved by her spirit and joined her on the ride to the next destination, including the elderly, disabled individuals, and mothers. With her actions, she proved to her many followers that if you diligently pursue what is right, the whole world will come to help you.
"Although this challenge is entirely new, I can't fulfill it ahead of schedule due to my illness, which forces me to maintain a cautious and steady pace of progress." The journey was not entirely smooth, and Marjorie encountered various difficulties during her ride, such as finding accommodation. However, when it comes to such "minor matters," Marjorie once again demonstrated her strong communication skills and adaptability. "Before arriving at each location, I would preemptively contact the local mayor or town chief and request their assistance. I would say that I am about to ride into your city and ask if it's possible to provide a convenient place to stay. Most of the time, I would receive a quick reply. When I didn't, I would resolve the issue with a tent."
Maternal Duality: Tenacity in Regret, Surrender in Letting Go
"Could you share with us a moment that was the most exciting in your life?"
"Of course, it was when my daughter was born!"
At the age of 21, Majorie embarked on the most significant role in her life – becoming a mother. Her daughter has now grown into an adult. Influenced by her mother, the daughter has also developed a passion for cycling, owning a Dutch-style bicycle, which is minimalist, practical, and highly popular in urban areas.
Unfortunately, due to her illness, Marjorie is unable to provide her daughter with the same kind of nurturing companionship as other mothers. "Because of my illness, I often struggle to control my emotions, and sometimes I shout. So, her upbringing wasn't in the best environment... This led her to crave growing up quietly on her own from a very young age. She started living alone when she was 18." Marjorie respects her daughter's choices and doesn't disturb her on a daily basis. "However, when she encounters troubles in life, like fighting with her boyfriend, she occasionally comes back to see me, to see how her mother is doing, although those visits are becoming less frequent now..."
Perhaps out of protection and respect for her daughter, Marjorie did not share more about her with us. But even in these few words, we can repeatedly sense that this is an independent girl who persists in being herself, and this trait is likely inherited from this strong mother – Marjorie's first person inspired by her own strength is her own child.
When asked if there was anything she wanted to say to her daughter, Marjorie replied, "If there's anything I want to say to her, it's that I will always love her."

RIDING TOWARDS FREEDOM

What exactly sparked Marjorie's determination to take on the 750-kilometer challenge ?
Let's start with her former profession. Marjorie Ros was once a chef and ran her own restaurant roughly between 2004 and 2008. She told us with a smile, "When people hear the word 'chef,' they often feel a sense of dislike. Chefs can be intimidating."
However, her actual experience was quite different – "During my years as a chef, I was constantly told by people that they liked me and enjoyed working with me. During those times, I felt truly heard and respected. Whenever my friends, especially my female friends, faced difficult times in life, they would always think of me and seek comfort and guidance from me. I noticed that my experiences were starting to have an impact on those around me. That's when the idea came to me: Why not use my cycling experiences to inspire more women? Gradually, I came to believe that this was something I could and should do."
Since 2016, Marjorie has maintained a daily cycling routine, covering nearly 10,000 kilometers annually. She rides around her city, participates in long-distance journeys, and inspires more people to embrace cycling.Through Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram, she shares her cycling adventures with over 15,000 followers, spreading the joy of the sport. After completing this challenge, Marjorie had a clearer dream – she wanted to establish a women's cycling organization specifically to inspire women and pass on the freedom and hope brought by cycling to more women, promoting the practice of women's cycling and helping those with serious illnesses stay optimistic. Fortunately, in this process, Jelenew will join Marjorie in making contributions to promoting women's cycling. Marjorie also joked, "If I had the chance to be a mom again, I'd wear one of your maternity dresses and bike across France!"
In Marjorie Rossetti's story, I see a soul that can overcome anything. No obstacle can stop a person's dream of cycling. Her pedals are firm and powerful, just like her heart. to this, heer life is the best testament.

"If you were to assign a color to your life, what color would it be?" "The color of the sky, blue."
The conversation with Marjorie has come to an end. We felt as though we were being blown by the wind from the Mediterranean Sea in Southern France.
