HAUTES-PYRÉNÉES, May 19, 2024 - Marion Clignet, former Olympic medalist and 6-time world cycling champion, proudly carried the Olympic Flame with the backdrop of the jaw-dropping view of the Pyrenees and serene mountain village that Marion Clignet currently resides in.
Born in 1964, Marion became active in the cycling scene in her 20s. She describes her initiation into cycling as a happy accident. Diagnosed at 22 with epilepsy, Marion Clignet lost her driver's license, and she started commuting by bicycle. Thus began the champion's journey as an epilepsy patient.
As a trailblazer in women's cycling, Marion Clignet has shattered stereotypes and shattered glass ceilings, proving that bias against gender and epilepsy is no barrier to success on the road or in life. After retirement, Marion Clignet's journey took a new turn with her co-founding of Jelenew, a women-only performance cycling apparel brand. Fueled by her passion for cycling and her desire to create a supportive and inclusive community for female athletes, Marion joined forces with Jelenew to revolutionize the cycling apparel industry.
